Accessibility Statement

Borscht Bureau wants everyone — including people using a screen reader, keyboard-only navigation, or browser zoom — to be able to read the menu, book a table, and order online. We've built this site with that goal from the start, and we keep checking it against that standard as the site changes.

What we've done

• Every page has been tested against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard using automated auditing (axe-core), in both the light (“Day”) and dark (“Night”) themes, with zero violations found at time of writing.
• Every interactive element — links, buttons, forms, the cart — can be reached and used from a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
• A “skip to content” link lets keyboard users jump straight past repeated navigation on every page.
• Color combinations used for body text meet a 4.5:1 contrast ratio at minimum.
• Photos carry written descriptions (alt text) for anyone using a screen reader.
• Animations respect your device's “reduce motion” setting — turning that on in your operating system settles the site into its resting state instead of animating in.

Known limitations

A few pieces of the site are embedded from other companies and follow their own accessibility standards rather than ours directly — the Stripe checkout form and the Spotify playlist player in the footer are both built and maintained by those companies. We choose reputable providers, but can't directly fix an issue inside their embedded widget ourselves.
